3 Advantages of Winter Elopements

Sure, summer and fall weddings (especially in New England!) often steal the spotlight, but there’s something inherently magical about a winter wedding. Eloping in winter also has some serious advantages – here are three our couples love:

  1. Fewer crowds means more privacy

    • Winter elopements are an introvert’s dream! Popular destinations are typically much quieter during winter months, which means fewer tourists, less competition for dates and permits, and a really tranquil experience. Less foot traffic also gives your photographer more flexibility with locations and timelines.

  2. Lower costs allow for greater flexibility

    • The average cost of a wedding in Massachusetts is over $40K – but you likely already knew that (you’re choosing to elope after all!). That said, a winter elopement is another helpful way to curb costs, since it’s an off-season for many vendors. From photographers to accommodations and travel, winter elopements can be significantly more budget-friendly than peak wedding season options. Additionally, vendors tend to have more open calendars. At Dearly Studio, we keep our pricing as sharp as possible year round, but you’ll still find some promos here and there throughout winter. This past season, we offered an additional 30 minutes complimentary for January weddings, for example.

  3. You can lean into the cozy of it all

    • This one is an underrated advantage: winter elopements are SO. COZY. Sure, the sun sets during New England winters at an uncomfortably early hour – but you know what that leaves? Candlelight! Softness! Relaxation! It might be chilly outside, but your indoor winter elopement can be as warm and cheerful as you make it. (Plus, you can lean into winter wedding fashion in the cutest ways!)

Is a winter elopement right for you?

If you’re open to layering up, embracing the season, and leaning into something unconventional, we’d love to explore how Dearly Studio can be part of your day.
